FAQs

Sunset Siding Windows & Roofing

  • Will siding help save on heating and cooling bills?

Yes, it will. Energy savings can exceed 20%, depending on the actual wood area being covered and the type of insulation used.
  • What special accessories are offered?

Major manufacturers provide a variety of special trim and accent pieces, including special three-piece corners, fish scales, shake, stone veneers, beaded soffit panels, and window and door treatments, as well as different types of moldings. These options can either replicate older style homes or simply add character to yours.
  • What does Sunset do as a part of a window contract?

Sunset will remove and replace any rotten wood, remove and haul away old prime and storm windows, and install new thermally insulated windows from the outside in most cases. We'll adjust the opening to ensure the new window is square, insulate around the frame, wrap and flash any exterior wood framing, and install new casing and stools on the interior if you choose. All work includes proper sealing and caulking.
  • How much do windows cost?

The cost depends on the size and style of windows you need, along with other factors such as how the old windows are being removed, whether there's rotten wood present, and what optional features you want. Pricing varies between companies, so homeowners should always obtain at least three written estimates.
  • How long will windows last?

Major manufacturers provide a lifetime written warranty against framing and part failure. Some manufacturers include the glass seal in that warranty, while others may offer 20 years on the glass seal. These warranties are often transferable if you sell your home. Sunset offers a 100% guarantee on all window installations. We get it right the first time.
  • Will windows help save on the heating and cooling bills?

Yes, they will. Energy savings can exceed 30%, depending on the existing insulation in your walls and the amount of air infiltration you're currently experiencing.
  • What are some of the other features offered?

Major manufacturers offer features such as Low-E glass filled with argon gas, grids, grooved glass, special colors, specialty window styles like trapezoids, and various safety features.
